An Excerpt from his pages is a Reading Pleasure due to his rich experience and enticing language.

Troubleshooting Audio Electronics

I ain’t gonna lie. You won’t be a master troubleshooter after reading a couple pages here. Hopefully, what I can do is give you the ability to form a logical plan of attack.

Troubleshooting is done mostly with the mind, not with the soldering iron. We all have problems that get the better of us, at least for a while, but approaching the situation as an interesting puzzle, rather than an unpleasant task to be suffered through, will make the work go quickly.

Success will come from a 3-prong approach, a combination of understanding the circuit, having the means to test it and being in the right frame of mind to correctly interpret the test data. Never underestimate that third component.

He also has a Design and Testing Services called Deep Run Design.

Transistor-Based Variable Current Drive for LED Calculator

“The idea is to expand on a simple LED tester by allowing the user to plug in an LED, dial in the LED brightness, and then read information on an LCD showing the LED voltage drop, the current current, and the value of current-limiting resistor to use in a target circuit. “

Sci.Electronics.Repair FAQ

Sci.Electronics.Repair Frequently Asked Question(s) (or S.E.R FAQ for short) Home Page. This site features Samuel M. Goldwasser’s latest and greatest “Notes on the Troubleshooting and Repair of…” series of comprehensive repair guides for consumer electronics equipment and other household devices.

Technology Resource – Silicon Sam

There is also a great deal of other information of interest to the electronics hobbyist, experimenter, technician, engineer, and possibly even the dentist and poet. Included are the now quite comprehensive and massive “Sam’s Laser FAQ”.

Sam’s Laser FAQ has a great deal of information on a variety of laser and optics related topics including a comprehensive treatment of diode, helium-neon, argon/krypton ion, and CO2 lasers as well as amateur laser construction including numerous examples of truly home-built lasers. Much of this is not available anywhere else either on-line or in print!

This generates green light at 532 nm which is not a bad shade of green and quite close to the eye’s peak sensitivity. This is the approach used in modern green laser pointers and most modern DPSS green lasers. While other materials can be used to obtain other wavelengths (blue being the most common)

Strippenstrolch – Elektronikbasteln

“Strippenstrolch” is thus a pitch name for “electricians”. here you can also see a innovative project that combines rainwater harvesting and a solar energy operated pump to flush toilets.

LED Lighting Projects, Learn Electronics, Basic Circuits and how they work. All in German.

“In Germany one finds this designation now and then for an electrician on the work. Particularly in the winter, if it is still dark in the morning, one often sees “Strippenstrolche” with its building lamp on the building site:”

Solar Pump

Combination of Rain and Sun Harvesting

“The inspiration for a self-sufficient toilet flush was now close at hand: I thought at first to work with a power supply that provides me the 12V to the pump. But as a power supply would idle constantly consume energy, I rejected this solution. I have long experimented with solar power, so I decided, now a solar system for our toilets to build. On the flat roof of our garage I installed two 12V – 55Wp – solar – modules (Conrad Electronics). This I switched in parallel.”

“As a solar storage currently serves an ordinary car battery 45Ah (later 3 pieces with a total of 135 Ah). The charging control acquires an 8A charge controller (Conrad). So all very simple.”
