Many people give up on Wireless Keyboard Mouse Combo after a few months of “Novelty”. This is due to the chore of replacing batteries and also the cost and wastage (carbon foot).

Then i have long been suggesting, nineties, ferrite smps coupled charger docks. This is like RFID, but more like RF power transfer. One half of Ferrite E-Core is in the Gadget and the other half is in the Dock. When the Gadget is docked it is sensed and power transfer just like in SMPS. Rechargeable batteries in the gadget.

Now you got a Wireless Combo, it can be converted into wired yet wireless, it is simple the wires will now carry 3V power to the Keyboard and Mouse, so no batteries. A little gentle and smart drilling is needed for the Mouse.

Get a 5V Adapter, the ones used for charging phones and music players. If you cannot get 5V use a 7805 to derive a 5V from 6 or 9. Use two 1N4007 in series on the positive line to drop 1.5V – test out with a dummy load of 10K and 100uF cap. Now use this to power both the mouse and keyboard with thin dual-core wires leading to the battery terminals. Soldering this may be a delicate job. Now you got a Perpetual Wired Keyboard Mouse Combo. The Interface still remains Wireless.

Another way is use Rechargeable Batteries for both. The wires will carry exactly a regulated 3.3V from a LM317 circuit which can be tweaked. The Mains adapter can be any 6V or 9V raw DC. You can have a Connector for the power wires when you want it to be wire free. This may require greater Gadget Opening and Drilling Expertise.

I got a strange problem as i added more and more peripherals, the pc gave odd messages, “i cannot detect what you are doing” and things like that. I almost flipped trying to locate the culprit. The problem was not in any peripheral but in the USB port powering the system itself. The SMPS was not loading much. Certainly the peripherals were drawing more and the warning could have been more like “use your own power”.  Computer Data Interface

I could not locate a powered USB with any vendor close by, so i built one and it works perfectly, Now it doubles up as a UPS Low Batter Indicator, by rare coincidence. If the Unregulated DC is above 7 volts, then no bugs. When i adjust the unregulated DC to the 7805 to around 6.9V, then i have a advance warning system.

When power fails, i keep working and listening to music from a Flash Thumb drive. When music stops, i turn of computer, the lead acid batteries gone below 20 V DC. This avoids deep discharge of my batteries. The Powered USB gets undetected when the supply falls below 4.5 probably.

This circuit is an interface between 89C52 of Atmel with 7135 of Intersil. With This circuit you can read analog data of both polarities you can change the range scale with extra circuits, you can store data on a EEPROM or send them to PC thru RS232 or Comm port.

ICL7135 to Printer port Interface

The four Digit Drive outputs and four BCD outputs of the Multiplexed Display Driver of 7135, along with A-D status output which is also four, are routed to four input pins on printer port via three 74HCT373 Digital Switches. This is because we have less Input pins on Port and 4 are shared by making one 74HCT373 transparent and others High Impedance when PC takes a reading. So the three sets of four outputs of 7135 can be read sequentially.

74HCT139 U9A which is controlled by the PC program can select U3, U4 or U5 for sending data to 4 pins on printer port. Data sent on the eight output pins of printer port can be latched by U10B into U6. This eight outputs of U6 can drive relays or lamps.

Serial Interface a 80C31 to ICL7135

uC Input and Output I/O is Keyboard and LCD when you build a Calculator or a Text/Morse Communicator. When you control a motor it is Drive/Speed and Direction for Motor and Tacho or Opto Counters for Feedback.
